Choosing the right Wedding Disco

With all the important details of a wedding to research and organise, it can be easy to forget that your wedding entertainment on the night is just as important. If you've chosen a wedding disco over a band, then it's important to remember that a disco is simply, not just a disco. There are many wedding discos in the market place and the differences between them can be substantial.

Any wedding DJ will have music, sound equipment and a large library of songs to entertain your guests but there are other important factors you should consider before you choose who to hire.  Remember, your wedding reception only occurs once (hopefully) so it's important that all goes to plan. You, your new married partner and all your guests will want to enjoy yourselves and have a night to remember.

Begin planning by looking for a reputable wedding disco in your local area. It has become much easier to set up a small business these days and whilst new businesses create healthy competition, when making your choice, consider these factors; how long the disco has been in business and are they financially stable? Do they have suitable backup equipment on hand, which is well maintained, good quality and most importantly, safe?  Ask any disco company about their backup plan for equipment failure and always ask about PAT tested equipment.  Certain venues now require suppliers to show evidence of this.

Attending wedding fayres is a great way to see reputable companies and most fayres are free to the public. Not only are they a great place to pick up good tips and discounts, remember that the companies attending have committed a cost to attend these fayres.  This is a good sign of financial stability. You can also search publications, newspapers and marketing material of wedding suppliers. Advertising is expensive and a good wedding disco with a successful marketing team behind it will use it to successfully acquire new custom.

Every couple has a budget in mind but try not to be too price orientated.  Cheap and cheerful can sometimes be a mistake. It's good practice to receive quotes from at least three different suppliers but ensure you consider other factors in line with pricing such as customer feedback!  Try to look for genuine testimonials and feedback from real people on websites.  If you're still unsure, you can always ask your connected friends, family and peers for their opinions and experience.

A good entertainment company will provide good advice to you upfront and not pressure you into any commitments.  Lastly, if you find the right wedding DJ and wish to make a booking, make sure you have read their terms and conditions! Check if they require a deposit, when the final amount has to be paid by and if you will have a contract in place.   A professional disco should be able to provide a guarantee and assurance that they will attend on the night.
